Johnny Carter

President/Owner

 

The heart and soul of May & Carter resides in the personality and determination of John L. Carter. He has over 45 years of experience in the petroleum industry, beginning at the young age of 15. Knowing the business from the ground up is what it takes to thrive in any good business, and Johnny is no exception. He has utilized his knowledge and understanding of the industry to build and mold May & Carter into what you are able to see today. The company's loved strategy of making things into a "win-win" situation was started by Johnny many years ago. He fully understands that it takes all kinds of people and there are many ways to complete a task, but there may be only one solution that works for everyone. "Excellence is only achieved when we work together to make an outcome that everyone can live with."

John W. Carter

Vice-President

 

The son of Johnny Carter, John has been working on and off for May & Carter since the age of 12. In 2005, he made the move to May & Carter permanently and took over customer relations with the company. John has a Bachelor's Degree from Hampden-Sydney College, providing him with a true liberal arts education. Over the past few years, he has expanded his expertise in the field, learning from his father and those around him. Currently, some of the tasks that he oversees include day to day operations, human resources, customer relations, and new business. John's passion for the business grows everyday through the ever expanding industry. Continuing with the energy and focus learned from his father, John hopes to see May & Carter continue to grow and to serve its customers with great prices, service, and quality products.    

Steve Ward

Vice-President/Maintenance

 

Coming to May & Carter from a long line of service and equipment companies, Steve joined May & Carter in 2007. He has been instrumental in helping the company to roll out a fully equipped service department. His expertise has helped to deliver on site upgrades with the approval of the oil companies. He pioneered the "Do It Yourself" program for BP's - Price Rollback. Steve oversees the day to day operations of the company's maintenance team, contractor relations, site upgrades, new construction, and rental buildings. His passion for the industry and his family spirit fit right in with the May & Carter family. 

Jesse Roberts

CFO

 

Jesse joined May & Carter in 2012 as the CFO. Previously, he worked as a CFO for two banks, a career that spanned 33 years. He has a Master's Degree from Georgia State University and holds a CPA Certificate from Florida. He was drawn to May & Carter by Johnny's energy and personality. His current role is to oversee accounting operations and complete month and year-end financial reporting.

Melissa Barnes

Vendor Invoice & Commission Sales Processing

 

When Melissa joined the office team at May & Carter, she already had a deep rooted history with the company. One of her first jobs was working at Park Avenue BP in Jackson, first as cashier and later as book keeper. She also worked at a law firm in Griffin, Georgia, where she assisted in their day to day operations. While at May & Carter, she has completed her Masters in Business Administration. Her role at the office involves managing and processing of all fuel invoices for accounts payable. She also processes and collects the settlement shift reports for C & M Oil Company, the commission based   sales side of May & Carter. 

Kay Duke

Accounts Payables

 

Kay has been with May and Carter since the end of February 2018. She handles all of the accounts payables for May and Carter. Before working here, she was the bookkeeper for Henderson Middle School and also worked previously in banking.

Andy Cecil

Sales

 

Andy came on board with May & Carter in late 2014 with a long history in the jobbership community. Formerly working for Willis Oil Company, Andy handled day to day operations and sales and any other task needed by Willis Oil. Andy's wealth of knowledge in serving customers extends from running multiple stores to writing contracts. His service to May & Carter's customers will be to assist them with their daily and operational needs.

Cole McLaurin

Dispatch

 

Cole has returned to May & Carter after being employed in 1994, part time for two years (1994-1996), while attending Gordon College. During those two years, Cole worked on the delivery and maintenance side. He stocked the warehouse, delivered oil (cases & drums), helped work on pumps, and pressure washed. He then worked 13 years (1996-2009) for McLaurin Graphics in management and the sales sides of the office supply and printing industry. Cole was also employed with Patriot Fire Protection for 3 years (2009-2013), where he was a service technician. Returning back to May & Carter in May 2013, Cole now serves as dispatch supervisor and as a sales representative to May & Carter's customers in the field.

Jeremy Davis 

Dispatch

 

In mid-year 2014, Jeremy started with May & Carter as a dispatcher for fuel and maintenance. He was discovered by May & Carter as a Verizon store sales associate, and May & Carter saw a fit within its team. Jeremy's role in dispatch includes customer orders, May & Carter keep full orders, common carrier orders, and driver scheduling.

Mal Hardin

Maintenance

 

For over 35 years, Mal has worked with May & Carter. He began his time with the company as a truck driver, but it was discovered that his talents for maintenance were much more needed within the day to day operations. Mal has served May & Carter with dedication and hard work for 2 generations. Currently, his duties include servicing equipment repair needs for the maintenance department.

Ray Peek

Maintenance

 

Begining in 1983, Ray was a route driver for May & Carter, hauling tank wagon loads to and from farms, homes, and businesses. The decades of service given to May & Carter show his loyalty and commitment to his job. Ray's capabilites show that as May & Carter has changed, he has made adjustments to his work to fit the need. Now working within the maintenance department, Ray focuses on assisting stores in maintaining a clean and respectful forecourt image, and assists with minor repairs for service as needed.

Scott Nyman

Maintenance

 

As May & Carter has grown signifigantly since 2012, Scott has been hired by May & Carter for various repairs on locations. Coming on full time with the company in December 2014, Scott's role with the maintenance department is more building and canopy related than pump repair. With a background in roffing, the installation of LED canopy lights is now done mostly in house by May & Carter for our company owned locations. Light structural repair and building maintenance is Scott's main duty for the company.
